Annotation: Elections in Myanmar are planned to be held in stages at the end of December 2025 — January 2026, despite the raging civil war and political crisis. Almost half of the country is outside military control and is controlled by ethnic armed organizations and popular resistance forces, which intend to block elections in their enclaves and have warned that they will take military action. The article examines different views on the upcoming elections within the country and in the world. The author notes a recurring feeling of deja vu when comparing the preparations for the upcoming elections with those conducted by the military administration earlier.
