The Visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus Interrupts Myanmar's Five-Year Diplomatic Isolation

Annotation: In 2025, the leaders of Belarus and Myanmar exchanged state visits for the first time. President Alexander Lukashenko's trip to Naypyidaw in November 2025 was the first visit by a foreign head of state to Myanmar since the military coup of 2021. The President of Belarus was given a "royal" welcome, including a previously unpracticed equestrian escort of 54 horsemen with flags of the two countries. The parties signed a number of important documents, including a roadmap for the development of cooperation, export credits, an agreement on visa–free travel, and cooperation in science and technology.
