Annotation: The author relies on his knowledge and experience of life in the country, creating the atmosphere of the colonial period through architectural images. This article describes the escalating conflict between Thailand and Cambodia due to territorial disputes over the Phra Wihan temple and other factors. It notes that the conflict has escalated amid disputes over hydrocarbon deposits and pre-existing territorial differences. The article also discusses the role of international leaders in the ceasefire and the conflict's impact on Thailand's domestic politics. It also discusses how the situation is affecting ASEAN unity.
