Green Development: Dilemma for Indonesia
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2026, №1(70), 99-109
Annotation: The article analyzes the latest trends in Indonesia's green transition, which views its new development course as a reasonable option to reduce the environmental costs of economic growth and meet its international climate commitments, which are driven by both its participation in the global fight against climate change and its own national interests. Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to developing a green economy as a strategy to strengthen the country's independence, promote sustainable economic growth, and ensure energy security.
The article focuses on the practice of energy transition as an important condition for achieving the set goals. At the same time, the article points out that Indonesia faces challenges in its transition to green development due to the inconsistency of its policies, which is caused by several economic and political factors, which the author discusses in detail. The author concludes that Indonesia's current development strategy is leading to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and is not conducive to the country's transition to a low-carbon development path.
