Annotation: The Vietnam War was an important event in the history of the 20th century, in which the Republic of Korea acted as one of the main allies of the United States, sending a large military contingent. This experience had a significant impact on the country's economic and industrial development. At the same time, the Korean soldiers gained a grim reputation for their crimes against the civilian population. Currently, the topic of Korean troops' participation in the Vietnam War remains sensitive in the context of bilateral relations with Vietnam, one of RoK's important economic partners.
This study focuses on analyzing the “sites of memory” to participation in the conflict erected in Vietnam with the direct participation of the Korean side. The relevance of the study is due to the ongoing process of rethinking historical experience and the importance of memorial sites for strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between Korea and Vietnam.
