Political and Defence Cooperation between Vietnam and Russia from the Standpoint of National Interests

Annotation: Using significant national documents, this paper offers a broad study of Vietnam's approach to national interests. As a result, one of the fundamental ideas and a tenet of Vietnam's foreign policy endeavours in its interactions with outside partners is national interest. Vietnam has always valued and treasured its unique traditional friendship with the Russian Federation, a strong country that has consistently supported Vietnam on its path to development and prosperity, both in times of peace and hardship, throughout the struggle to maintain national independence and unite the nation. According to the analysis in this journal article, Vietnam and the Russian Federation have a very strong relationship, particularly when it comes to political and defence cooperation. This relationship maximises Vietnam's national interests, especially when it comes to establishing a peaceful and stable international and regional environment, which helps to ensure Vietnam's territorial integrity and national security. This study provides an accurate understanding of the nature of bilateral relations, which are not only founded on the long historical tradition of the relationship but also serve the best national interests of both Vietnam and the Russian Federation. In the context of current geopolitical changes, this research affirms the fundamental values of Vietnam-Russian relations in the face of contemporary challenges.
