Perspectives of socio-economic development of Australia in 2026

Annotation: The main indicators of socio-economic development of Australia in 2025 were not positive. In a whole, GDP growth rates composed 1,3% in 2024-2025 financial year. Incidentally, GDP growth was conditioned by internal demand, in the first place by households and public sector demand. The volume of private investments increased very slow and didn’t exercise influence on economic growth. Consumer prices in Australia increased in 2025, especially on food products, cars and electric powers. Trade conditions deteriorated owing to the falling of export prices on raw materials. At the same time, export of mining production, together with export of services, is one principal of origins of Australian incomes. In opinion of experts, in 2026 growth rates of Australian economy will be more rapid. In September of 2025 the forecasts of Australian GDP growth rates revised to 1,9% in 2025 and to 2,4% in 2026. The forecast on 2027 remains without changing on 2,6% level. Foreign policy factors exercises the great influence on the Australian economic growth perspectives. In a whole, Australian economy has good foundation for the adaptation to global unstable and indeterminate situation.
