Energy cooperation within the context of integration in South-East Asia and Asia-Pacific: New opportunities for Russia

Annotation: ASEAN has been growing into a serious actor on the energy map of Asia - Pacific. Having mainly an underdeveloped energy sector, Southeast Asian nations seek to act as large and responsible resource consumers as well as a top spot for foreign investment. This presents new opportunities for Russia in terms of diversifying energy exports and promoting Russian technologies and machinery in Asia. Additionally, active participation in multilateral cooperation in Asia - Pacific offers Russia a chance to be regarded here not only as a resource-rich energy provider but an influential and reputable policy maker.
