Annotation: Dr. G.F.Murasheva deals with the main events in Vietnam in 2010-2011, including domestic and international ones. General attention is paid to study of the decisions of 11th Congress of CPV being the most important domestic event. The researcher attempts to explain why Vietnam did not give up the course to socialism notwithstanding unfavorable international situation and foreign pressure. The paper presents the definition of market economy with socialist direction as given by the Vietnamese leadership. Also covered Vietnam's policy toward its main partners - China, the US and ASEAN. Close interconnection between Vietnam-China and Vietnam-the US relations are stressed. The author also analyses the leadership potential of Vietnam as a member of ASEAN, which was demonstrated in 2010 when Vietnam was the Chairman of the Association.
