Territorial problems and security in East Asia

Annotation: The paper studies territorial problems in East Asia, as the more relevant, resonant and difficult regional problems. The leading states of the region such as China and Japan as well as several ASEAN countries are engaged in these conflicts. The problems of the world ocean (development of the shelf, subsoil of the seabed, and delimitation of the water and islands territories) play more important role in the world policy. In early 21st century the rivalry between the littoral states on the legal regime of bodies of water and exploitation of seabed resources has intensified. The importance of these issues, given that they affect the interests of virtually all states in the Asia-Pacific region, is constantly increasing.
