The problem of the South-China Sea in the discourse of relations between Vietnam and the US: dynamics and meaning

Annotation: The article deals with the problem of the South-China Sea, one of the central problems of the general system of sea security in the East Asia. The author underlines that in the complex interstate relations of the South-East Asian Region one of the leading pairs is Vietnam-American partnership. Given the growing interest of the USA to the South-China Sea, one can say that the role and place of the territorial disputes in the US-Vietnam relations enables to simultaneously consider both the dynamics of bilateral relation and that of the regional balance of power.
