The image of the «Crowned» Buddha in the art of Indochina

Annotation: The author examines image of the «Crowned» Buddha in the art of Indochina, the conceptual content of which is defined by the canonical tenets of Buddhism with the evolution of its artistic expression being influenced by the local religious and aesthetic traditions. This explains the emergence of a variety of iconographic and stylistic interpretations of this image in the art of Theravada countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.
