The situation in the South-China Sea in the context of a new global game

Annotation: The situation in the South-China Sea has become lately one of the main sources of threat to stability not only in Asia-Pacific, but in the world as well. Among the claimants to the islands in the sea are China and “all the others”. Involvement of extra-regional powers in territorial disputes in the South-China Sea testifies that the situation here is influenced by a new geo-political game which is under way after the “cold war period” with the essence of which being American-China rivalry, assuming the global character and evident on all continents.
