Japanese corporations’ participation in international oil and gas projects in Indonesia

Annotation: The subject of the article is major oil and gas projects of Indonesia, implemented jointly with Japanese oil and gas corporations. Data on production, consumption and the dynamics of oil and gas reserves in Indonesia and Japan is given. The energy interdependence of the two countries is shown, i.e. Japan's share of the total volumes of oil and gas exported by Indonesia, as well as Indonesia's share of Japanese imports of energy resources. Oil and gas legislation of the Republic of Indonesia is analyzed.
The main participants of Indonesia’s oil and gas sector and the governmental and affiliated organizations of Japan are shortlisted, including their functions and mandates.
Detailed analysis of joint projects on the extraction of hydrocarbons and the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants is made.
