The South-China Sea: India’s “window” to Asia-Pacific region (interests, aims, perspectives)

Annotation: The paper analyses the place and role of the South-China Sea in India`s drive towards Asia-Pacific. Special attention is paid to the mechanism of realization of India’s interests and goals in the region spreading between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, specific features of the “Look East Policy” on different stages and the evolution of positions of participants in territorial disputes in the SCS (several states of ASEAN, China, the USA and India). Main consequences of developing tension in the SCS are addressed as well as the perspectives of possible India is joining APEC.
