Southeast Asia: factors of investment attractiveness

Annotation: The paper presents a comparative analysis of the business environment in the Southeast Asia countries. The author reveals strength of the business environment that increase the investment attractiveness of the region and shows its weaknesses that lower confidence of foreign investors in the SEA region as an investment destination. The main barriers are corruption, inefficient government bureaucracy, financing problems, inadequately educated workforce, weak infrastructure, poor work ethic of national labor force and others. The governments have been undertaking business-friendly reforms with the aim to increase the region’s competitiveness and attractiveness to investors. Singapore is the most attractive country for foreign investors in the SEA region and Myanmar is the lowest ranked nation.
