Annotation: This article analyses the results of Cambodian general elections that were held in July 2013. The author explores election manifestos and electoral strategies of the two major political competitors – the incumbent Cambodian People’s Party and oppositional Cambodia National Rescue Party. Notwithstanding the victory of the Cambodian People’s Party, the opposition’s important electoral breakthrough means that the ruling party will have to significantly modify its policies. New political strategies should allow it to stay in power given the opposition’s strong electoral gains.
