Annotation: This paper dwells on the Catholic Church in the Philippines as an institution, one of the main elements of social and politic structure of the Philippine society. The author underlines the political role of the Catholic Church in the modern society of the country stressing that in order to properly understand the problem it is necessary to briefly refer to the history of Catholicism in the Philippines.
