The causes of 1979 war and the factor of the Soviet assistance to the SRV

Annotation: In time of American aggression in Vietnam China, though it refused from joint actions with the Soviet Union to help Vietnam, still was unilaterally giving feasible help and maintained normal relations with Hanoi. However, after the unification of Vietnam Vietnam-China relations entered the period of rigid confrontation on two major geo-political and geo-strategic issues: 1) Irreconcilable collision of the party and state interests of the two countries over Kampuchea; 2) Struggle for control over two major archipelagos in the South China Sea the Paracel and the Spratly Islands.
