Forest Fires in Indonesia in 2015 - Causes and Implications
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2016, №30, 65-73
Annotation: The author notes that in spite of the fact that Indonesian government has been implementing measures to prevent this natural disaster for the past 15 years, forest fires in 2015 exposed the economic, political and organizational problems that should be resolved in complex to achieve the proclaimed ASEAN goal to make the region free from forest fires by 2020. The statement of this goal is subjected to the increase of economic, social and environmental costs of fires for the countries of the region. This leads to aggravation of contradictions among them. To overcome them they have not only to rely on individual efforts of Indonesia to prevent fires but also on regional collective actions to ensure viability of ASEAN community.
