Annotation: This article examines political struggle between the ruling Cambodian People’s Party and its main rival - the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party in the context of the upcoming local and parliamentary elections in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The author shows that the ruling party has devised a new strategy of interaction with its electoral rival, while also concentrating on the socio-economic sphere. The fierce battle to win the support of young voters who traditionally backed the opposition has forced the ruling party to seek to expand its reach on social networks as the most widely used communication platform among Cambodian youth.
