Malaysia before general elections

Annotation: The author evaluates the events preceding an active phase of electoral cycle in Malaysia. The general elections are due by April 2013. They are supposed to answer the two major questions. First, was the serious defeat suffered by ruling National Front, a logical result of the electorate’s disappointment with its monopolist high position or it was caused by a mere concurrence of circumstances? Second, how strong is the opposition People’s Block and how successful is its management of five states it has won in the last elections? Most important, the forthcoming popular voting is to demonstrate a trend of the electorate’s attitudes and will determine Malaysia’s political future.
