Annotation: Dr. Nataliya Rogozhina in the article “The visit of Thai prime minister to Russia - what comes next” analyses the implications of the official visit of the prime minister of Thailand Prayuth Chan-ocha to Russia in May 2016 for bilateral cooperation between countries. The author concludes that in spite of the fact that both countries demonstrate mutual interest towards its expansion in different spheres, Russia will hardly be the main investor, trade partner or strategic ally of Thailand. At the same time the necessity to strengthen its contacts with Thailand is determined by geopolitical interests of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region.
