Incident around Natuna Islands in the light of Indonesia-China relations

Annotation: Within the context of growing South-East Asia importance in the world politics Indonesia is attempting to turn into the regional leader and a global maritime power. Indonesia should safeguard its sovereignty, protect national interests and wants to play a role of a kind of equilibrium in the South China sea. He conflict around Natuna has its impact on the situation in the South China sea. The incident would risk sparking tensions with China, but Indonesia showed restraint and prevented steps that could negatively affect its relationship with China. Strategic partnership between Indonesia and China serves as an instrument to ensure security in South-East Asia.
