Education in the US colonial policy in the Philippines

Annotation: This article traces the origins of the US education policy in the Philippines in the early 20th century, and examines the factors that influenced the nature of education. The study shows that the economic interests and racial conflict in the United States played an important role in the attitudes of the American society towards the colonial policy in the Philippines. These factors determined the goals and objectives of education in the archipelago, and put it at the service of the US interests.
