Annotation: The article analyses basic problems of cooperation between India and ASEAN in the course of their development. The author singles out the main forms and directions of their collaboration. The paper shows evolution of specific features of mutual interest of the sides, development of new integrative structures in the region and beyond its boundaries (IOR-ARC, BIMSTEC and others), and the role of the Indian Ocean area. Great attention is also paid to the role of the so-called "Chinese factor", its impact on India-ASEAN relations as well as to the opposite process - China's reaction to greater India's influence in the South East Asia and North Asia.
