Annotation: The article observes amid the global financial crisis economic and political profile of Asia-Pacific, a world region where a number of countries continue to show high rates of growth, is continuously increasing. Asia Pacific region becomes one of the poles of emerging multipolar international system which is a natural response to a qualitatively new geopolitical situation. This is also the region where Association of South East Asian Nations, a remarkably successful regional organization, has been functioning for more than 40 years. The Russian Federation is a not a member of the EAC yet. The main cause is its insufficient substantial (primarily economic) ties with ASEAN. However, author argues that year 2010 could become a critical stage for Russia's relations with the Association and its participation in regional integration processes.
