Environmental cooperation of ASEAN countries

Annotation: The article decribes agravation of an ecological situation in the SEA countries, occurrence of transboundary environmental problems and, the main thing, their interrelation with the general developments dictate necessity of acceptance of multilateral measures directed to solve them. The SEA region is one of first-ever has started formation and realization of the regional ecological policy concentrated within the frame of ASEAN. Ecological security is considered as one of the major conditions of maintenance of economic and political safety in region. Practice of regional ecological cooperation, including the main problems of its realization, as well as activity of corresponding institutional mechanisms and institutes of ASEAN are analyzed in detail.
