Annotation: The paper reconstructs the historiography of Indian cultural influence in early Southeast Asia from the beginning of the twentieth century to our time. All the theories of Indianization have socio-cultural, methodological, and theoretic implications. Their developments also depend on enlargement of the archaeological data.
