The problem of Moslem extremism in Indonesia
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2011, №17, 90-105
Annotation: Dr. Liudmila Efimova in her contribution studies the problem of Moslem extremism in Indonesia. Despite serious antiterrorist measures by Indonesian authorities and police radical ideologies and extremist movements in Indonesia have shown an ability to adapt, regroup, regenerate and fight on. They continue to exist in a latent form and can reappear any time under favorable circumstances. Terrorist movements are structured in a network consisting of small separate and independent groups, but their members are closely linked by common education at pesantrens and Islamic universities, family and business ties and the like. Radical Islamic education produces new generations of extremists and terrorists who replace those arrested or killed by the police. Terrorism is not going to be eradicated any time soon.
