ASEAN countries and US-Japan Trans-Pacific Partnership initiative
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2017, №34, 75-89
Annotation: The paper analyses the process of joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership by four Southeast Asian states – Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore. The author examines the question of what motivated the SEA countries to join TTP, what attitude they demonstrated towards the ratification of the agreement and how non-aligned to TTP ASEAN countries reacted to it as well. Currently, after US withdrawal from the agreement, made by the new president D. Trump, it is Japan who stands firmly for the further development of TTP, however, the perspectives of the agreement are quite vague.
