Annotation: The paper analyses the key aspects, factors and results of China – Southeast Asia interaction in educational field. For China, this is an essential soft power component of its policy in the region. Furthermore, China is gradually catching up with the dynamics of the United States’ influence build-up. However, the greatest part of educational exchanges and educational migration from SEA is still related to the USA. At the same time, Japan, Australia, India and others are developing their educational ties with SEA, too. As a result, the problem of brain-drain occurred, becoming the most serious challenge the region has faced in this sphere so far.
