Annotation: This article commemorates the anniversary of death of Michael Somare, an outstanding politician and absolute leader of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea. The life path of the politician starting from his early years is considered. Important facts from his biography that influenced his formation and popular recognition as the "Father of the Nation" are presented and analyzed.
