The Rohingya people crisis: national, regional and global aspects

Annotation: This paper deals with domestic and international consequences of the ongoing crisis related to the plight of the Rohingya people. The paper sheds some light on the history of their migration to Burma/Myanmar, their relationship with the indigenous population of the Rakhine state and the central government’s politics towards them. Besides, the author describes basic approaches to the solution of the Rohingya problem and estimates potential outcomes of the conflict’s escalation for Burma/Myanmar and the South-East Asian region as a whole.
