The Construction of the Kra Canal as a Priority of the ASEAN Economic Community

Annotation: The article assesses the prospects for the construction of the Thai canal through the prism of the ASEAN Economic Community linked with the interests of ASEAN member states and ASEAN extra-regional partners. The novelty of the research stems from revealing and systemizing the positions of parties concerned, as well as from attempting the aftereffects of this construction for the ASEAN Economic Community. In the author's opinion, this issue supports the intra-ASEAN unity as these countries prioritize the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community over their national interests.
