ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2023, №2(59), 131-137
Annotation: The article demonstrates that transnational organized crime has been identified by Cambodian authorities as a direct security threat to the country’s population, as a global phenomenon, countering which requires coordinated regional efforts. The author shows that in the post-pandemic period, with the opening up of borders, Cambodia has seen a deteriorating crime situation – there has been a marked increase in drug consumption, drug dealing has become more networked, a large number of small producers and consumers has sprung up. The state of affairs with regard to trafficking in persons is no less serious. There has been a sharp rise in all sorts of online fraud, especially in relation to gambling, where slavery is widely practiced.
