Annotation: The new role in the Asia-Pacific proclaimed by Australia has strengthened its traditional interest to economic ties with neighboring Asian countries. The acute task was to fortify relations with China. Relations with the countries of Oceania were developing as well as military ties of Australia with the US. As far as relations of the Russian Federation with Australia are concerned, before the crisis in the Ukraine they were normal. Nevertheless being involved by the West in its strategy of Russia isolation and confrontation to its foreign policy, Australia seriously damaged its relations with Russia.
