Annotation: The paper is devoted to the analyses of the political activity of one of the most influential public figures in the Australian history. He was described as the Right Catholic intellectual whose public stand was severely criticized by the left wing researchers; but he is still very popular among the Australian conservatives including the present Australian prime- minister Tony Abbott.
